Overview
When the scale changes, skin sometimes doesn't
Losing a substantial amount of weight is an admirable achievement, and it deserves to be celebrated rather than hidden under loose skin. Dr. Palladino sees the frustration when the body doesn't contract to its new shape.
Losing a substantial amount of weight, whether through bariatric surgery or through diet and exercise, is an achievement that is good for your health and your self-confidence. Skin does not always keep up. Dr. Humberto Palladino frequently sees patients who have lost the weight and still carry excess sagging skin, and he knows how frustrating that is.
Dr. Palladino performs massive weight loss body contouring to help you reach the tight, toned appearance you want: clothes that fit the way you expect, and a body that feels like yours again.
Are you a candidate?
Body contouring, who it helps
Body contouring shapes, tones and/or removes loose skin after massive weight loss. All surgery carries individual risks; your suitability is determined during a personal consultation with Dr. Palladino.
You may be a candidate for body contouring if you have lost a significant amount of weight, through bariatric surgery, diet, or exercise, and now carry loose or sagging skin in any of these areas:
- Lower abdomen
- Back
- Arms
- Breasts
- Buttocks
- Groin
- Thighs
You will feel much better about your appearance with body contouring. Your skin hugs your curves more tightly, and you look leaner and more toned.
The ideal candidate is at or near their goal weight, in good general health, and committed to maintaining their results through a stable lifestyle. Candidacy, realistic expectations, and your personalised plan are determined during your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Palladino.

A plan built around your body
Every body contouring patient has different needs. Dr. Palladino builds the treatment plan around the areas you want addressed.
Body Lift
Buttocks · Abdomen · Hips · Thighs
Addresses sagging skin and fat on the buttocks, abdomen, hips, and thighs. The broadest of the lower-body procedures after significant weight loss.
Thigh Lift
Inner & Outer Thighs
Improves the appearance of saggy thighs by lifting the skin and removing the excess. The remaining skin hugs the underlying tissues more tightly.
Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)
Shoulder to Elbow
Tones arms by tightening the tissues, removing loose skin, and tightening the remaining skin for a more pleasing arm contour. Arm lift can address skin laxity anywhere between the shoulder and elbow.
Breast Lift
Breasts
Raises the breasts into a more youthful position by removing excess skin and pulling the remaining skin together more tightly. The nipple / areola can also be re-located higher on the breast.
Buttock Lift
Buttocks
Pulls the buttock skin upward, removing the excess. If the buttock lift leaves the backside looking too flat or angular, Dr. Palladino can add volume and roundness by placing an implant or performing an autologous fat transfer.
Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Abdomen
Sculpts and tones the abdomen by tightening the muscles, skin, and tissues and removing excess skin. A cornerstone of most post-bariatric reconstruction plans.
These procedures can be combined to address several areas of the body at once and produce a broader change. Complete body contouring and post-bariatric reconstruction are often staged: one procedure at a time, with recovery in between. They can also be performed together as an Extreme Body Makeover.

Body contouring procedures can be combined to address several areas at once and produce a broader change. Complete body contouring and post-bariatric reconstruction are often staged: one procedure at a time, with recovery in between. They can also be performed together as an Extreme Body Makeover. Dr. Palladino will help determine the safest and most effective sequencing for your situation during your consultation.
Recovery varies depending on which procedures are performed and how many areas are addressed. Generally, patients should plan for several weeks of reduced activity and will need a trusted companion to assist them at home in the early days. Dr. Palladino will provide detailed pre- and post-operative instructions and will monitor your healing progress at scheduled follow-up visits. Following all instructions as closely as possible helps ensure the smoothest recovery.
Body contouring after bariatric surgery or after losing a significant amount of weight offers many options depending on the needs of each particular patient. Depending on the areas to be contoured, the price range can be between $10,000–$30,000. In some cases, medical insurance might cover a portion of the cost. Many patients notice an immediate improvement in body contour following surgery, though final results emerge gradually as swelling subsides over the weeks and months that follow. Results vary by individual and by the scope of procedures performed. Dr. Palladino will set clear expectations for your timeline during your consultation.
An Extreme Body Makeover is a single-session approach to post-bariatric body contouring in which multiple procedures are performed during the same surgical setting. This may include a combination of body lift, tummy tuck, thigh lift, arm lift, breast lift, and other procedures tailored to the patient's anatomy and goals. Dr. Palladino will discuss whether a staged approach or combined session is most appropriate for your safety and desired outcome.
