A neck that reveals your true elegance
Neck liposuction and platysmaplasty by Dr. Humberto Palladino. Precise contouring, natural definition.
#believeinmagic
Why patients choose neck contouring
A defined neckline, beautifully restored
The neck ages quickly. When submental fat, sagging skin, or a lax platysma muscle blur the jawline, no amount of diet or exercise can reverse it. Dr. Palladino restores that definition surgically.
Sagging skin beneath the chin, neck bands, a "double chin," or fatty jowls can make the face appear heavier and older than it is, and they rarely respond to lifestyle changes alone. The cause may be aging, genetics, sun exposure, or a natural loss of skin elasticity. Either way, neck liposuction and platysmaplasty offer targeted, lasting improvement.
Also known as platysmaplasty, neck lift surgery contours and tightens the neck by removing excess fat and, where needed, re-draping or tightening the underlying platysma muscle, which gradually separates from the face as we age. Liposuction can be used alone or in combination with skin removal to smooth and sculpt the area beneath the chin and along the jaw.
Dr. Palladino will discuss your goals, anatomy, and the best approach for your needs during a one-on-one consultation. Advanced imaging lets you preview your anticipated results before a single incision is made.
Common concerns addressed
- Submental fat: "double chin" or "turkey wattle"
- Sagging or loose skin beneath the chin and jaw
- Platysma muscle laxity: visible neck bands
- Fatty jowls that blend the jawline into the neck
- Loss of neck definition from aging or weight changes
- Neck contour that persists despite weight loss
All surgery carries risks and individual results vary. Candidacy is determined during your personal consultation with Dr. Palladino.
The procedure
Three approaches, one precise result
Dr. Palladino selects from three well-established techniques, or combines them, based on your anatomy and aesthetic goals. Every plan is personalised during consultation.
Technique 1
Neck Liposuction
A precision liposuction instrument targets and removes specific deposits of fat beneath the chin and along the lower face and neck. Ideal for patients with good skin elasticity who need volume reduction without significant skin tightening.
- Outpatient procedure
- Twilight sedation or general anesthesia
- Precise fat removal beneath the chin and neck
- Minimal incisions, well-concealed entry points
Technique 2
Skin Removal & Lipo
Combines liposuction with direct skin excision to smooth, contour, and tighten the neck. Suited to patients whose skin laxity alone is not sufficient to snap back after fat removal.
- Outpatient procedure
- Twilight sedation or general anesthesia
- Fat removed and excess skin excised
- Enhanced contour and firmness
Technique 3
Platysmaplasty
Two small incisions, placed just behind the ears or beneath the chin, allow Dr. Palladino to loosen, re-drape, and remove excess skin while tightening the platysma muscle for a firmer, more defined jawline and throat.
- Outpatient procedure
- Twilight sedation or general anesthesia
- Platysma muscle tightened for lasting firmness
- Skin re-draped and sutured with precision
Before your procedure
Preparing for a smooth experience
Neck lift and liposuction is performed as an outpatient procedure, with no overnight hospital stay required. The procedure takes approximately one to two hours. A brief observation period in the recovery suite follows before you are released into the care of a companion.
Dr. Palladino will provide personalised pre-operative instructions during your consultation. The following steps help ensure the safest, most comfortable experience:
Stop smoking at least two weeks before your scheduled surgery date.
Fast after 11:00 p.m. the night before. No food or drink until after your procedure.
Arrange a companion to drive you to and from the surgery center; you will not be able to drive after anesthesia.
Prepare your recovery space with ice packs, soft foods (soups, yogurt), and any prescribed medications.
Plan time off work; most patients benefit from at least one week away from their regular schedule.
No lotions, creams, or makeup on your neck, chin, or face on the day of surgery.
Dr. Palladino’s surgery center meets all HIPAA regulations for patient care and is fully accredited. He is a member of both the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

ExploreWhat to expect after surgery
Your recovery, week by week
Most patients are comfortably at home within hours of surgery. Swelling, bruising, and tenderness are normal and resolve progressively. Dr. Palladino and his team support you through every stage.
Days 1 – 2
Special medical bandages are applied to the neck, chin, and incision points immediately after surgery. Wear them as instructed. Expect soreness, swelling, and a feeling of jaw stiffness. All of it is normal. Keep activity minimal and rest with your head propped up.
Days 3 – 7
A soft, liquid-friendly diet (soups, yogurt, smoothies) is easiest to manage during the first few days. Some bruising and tenderness will persist; Dr. Palladino may prescribe medication to ease discomfort. Most patients plan at least one week off from work.
Weeks 2 – 4
Swelling diminishes noticeably over this period. Social activities can typically resume as you feel more like yourself. Follow all post-operative instructions and attend all scheduled follow-up visits with Dr. Palladino.
Weeks 4 – 8+
The full contour of your new neckline becomes increasingly visible as residual swelling continues to resolve. Individual healing timelines vary, and Dr. Palladino will advise on your specific progress at each post-operative visit.

Understanding the risks
All surgery carries inherent risks. Complications are uncommon when pre-operative instructions are followed carefully, including stopping smoking and fasting before the procedure. Potential risks include:
- Infection
- Intense itching at the incision sites
- Excessive bleeding or hematoma
- Temporary numbness in the face or neck
- Blood clots
- Undesirable scarring
- Skin discoloration or surface irregularities
- Need for revisional surgery
These risks are rare when surgery is performed at an accredited outpatient facility. Dr. Palladino will discuss your individual risk profile and risk-reduction measures during your consultation.
Common questions
Neck contouring, answered
Good candidates are adults who are bothered by excess fat, sagging skin, or muscle laxity beneath the chin and along the neck. Candidacy depends on your anatomy, skin quality, overall health, and goals. Dr. Palladino will assess all of these factors during your consultation and help you determine the most appropriate approach.
Platysmaplasty refers to the surgical tightening or repair of the platysma, the large flat muscle that runs along the front of the neck. As we age, this muscle can separate and sag away from the face, creating visible banding or a loss of neck definition. During platysmaplasty, Dr. Palladino repositions and tightens this muscle to restore a firmer, smoother neckline.
Both twilight (IV conscious) sedation and general anesthesia are available. Most patients prefer general anesthesia, and Dr. Palladino works with an anesthesiologist in South Florida to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the procedure. Your options will be discussed during your consultation.
The procedure typically takes approximately one to two hours. Following surgery, you will remain in the recovery suite for observation before being released home with a companion. Because of the anesthesia or sedation, you will not be able to drive yourself.
Incisions are placed in discreet locations, behind the ears or beneath the chin, and are designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. For patients undergoing liposuction alone, entry points are minimal. Dr. Palladino will discuss realistic expectations for scarring specific to your chosen technique during your consultation.
Yes. Combining platysmaplasty with a facelift is common and often yields more harmonious results, as both procedures address related structures. Other procedures such as chin augmentation, brow lift, or blepharoplasty can also be performed during the same session. Dr. Palladino will advise on which combinations best serve your goals and anatomy.
Fees range from $2,600 to $7,000, depending on the technique, anesthesia type, and whether combination procedures are included. Your estimate covers all facility fees, lab costs, surgeon's fee, anesthesiologist, medications, and staff, and is provided after your detailed one-on-one consultation with Dr. Palladino.
