Is men's rhinoplasty right for you?
Confidence begins with proportion
Men come to board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Humberto Palladino for anything from a small refinement to a significant correction. The goal does not change: a nose that reads as yours.
Men who consider rhinoplasty in South Florida (Fort Lauderdale, Miami, North Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and the surrounding areas) tend to share a few concerns:
- A nose that is crooked or asymmetrical
- A nose that appears too large for the size of the face
- A wide nose
- A previously broken or damaged nose that needs repair
- Sinus or other problems that cause discomfort
- Tipped or upturned nostrils that are either too big or too small
All surgery carries risks, and every patient is different. Candidacy, realistic expectations, and your personalised plan are determined at your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Palladino. Many times, rhinoplasty for men can be combined with complementary procedures, such as a facelift or chin augmentation, to bring the full face into harmony.
Your consultation with Dr. Palladino
See your results before you decide
The first step is a private consultation. Dr. Palladino will explain how Vectra 3D imaging technology captures your "before" and simulates potential "after" photos, so you can see realistic outcomes before deciding anything.
Dr. Palladino has performed hundreds of rhinoplasties for men. His approach starts with the anatomy in front of him: proportion first, then the details that keep a male face reading as male.
During your consultation, Dr. Palladino will assess the specific corrections needed and explain exactly which techniques will be used. He will walk you through realistic expectations and answer every question you have before any plan is put in place.
Rhinoplasty is a common facial procedure. What separates a good outcome from a poor one is an experienced surgeon and a plan you both understand before the day arrives.

Surgical approach
Open or closed, precision tailored to you
After analysing the corrections needed with Vectra 3D imaging, Dr. Palladino will determine the technique that best fits your anatomy and goals. Every assessment is entirely individual.
Open Rhinoplasty
For complex or more significant reshaping
- A small incision at the base of the columella gives Dr. Palladino full, unobstructed access to the nasal structures
- Reserved for cases requiring greater precision, including previously damaged or broken noses
- Allows the most extensive corrections; results are long lasting and highly favorable
- A small, inconspicuous scar that heals discreetly
Closed Rhinoplasty
For more subtle refinements
- All incisions are placed entirely inside the nose, so there is no external scarring
- The nasal structures remain in place; minor targeted corrections are made
- Scars are barely visible, if at all
- Ideal for men who require "a little tweaking" rather than an extensive operation
Before your procedure
Preparing for surgery
Nothing about the day should come as a surprise. Every detail of your preparation is covered well before you arrive.
Anesthesia
The choice of either twilight sedation or general anesthesia will be discussed during your initial consultation. Most patients opt for general anesthesia; you will not remember or feel anything during the surgery. Twilight sedation offers a faster recovery time. We recommend not drinking or eating at least eight hours prior to rhinoplasty, since anesthesia will be needed.
What to avoid beforehand
Avoid shaving, tanning, and cigarette smoking before the procedure. Do not apply lotions to your face, and do not take unknown prescriptions or over-the-counter pain medications such as Advil, ibuprofen, or aspirin prior to surgery.
Arrange a companion
You should ask a friend or relative to bring you to the procedure, since most patients feel groggy and are unable to drive home afterward. Your companion should plan to stay and receive updates while you are in surgery.
Nasal taping
To reduce swelling, Dr. Palladino tapes the nasal bridge and supratip (the area just above the tip of the nose). Light pressure on the nasal tissues pushes out trapped fluid. How long you stay taped varies case by case and will be discussed during your consultation.
Your recovery
What to expect as you heal
After your male rhinoplasty, Dr. Palladino and his team will monitor your comfort in the recovery suite before you are released home. Every patient heals at a different pace. Following Dr. Palladino's instructions closely gives you the best path forward.
Days 1–3
Bruising, swelling, and soreness are normal and expected. Rest with your head propped up. Medication will be provided to manage discomfort. You will wear a small nasal cast to protect the nose from damage.
Week 1–2
Most patients feel comfortable returning to public activities after a couple of weeks, though this is entirely up to you. Some people close to you may notice a change; a casual observer likely will not.
Weeks 2–12
Swelling lasts anywhere between 2 to 12 weeks following rhinoplasty. Men who had a bony hump removed may experience swelling for longer due to its position on the middle of the nasal bridge. Stiffness in the upper lip is normal and will subside over time.
Sun protection, ongoing
Avoid sun exposure in the weeks following surgery, as it can cause redness and slow healing. Always wear a high-SPF sunscreen; this is especially important right after nose surgery.
Risks to know
Though complications associated with rhinoplasty are relatively rare, every surgery carries some risk. Possible risks include extra swelling, blood clots, infection, and adverse anesthetic reactions. Dr. Palladino has gone through extensive licensing and training to minimise these risks and ensure excellent outcomes for his patients. Your specific risks will be discussed in full at your consultation.
Investment
Transparent about pricing
Dr. Palladino's prices are in line with other plastic surgery facilities throughout the U.S. Because every nose and every patient is different, an accurate quote requires a personal evaluation.
Most men's rhinoplasty procedures fall within the range of $4,500 to $10,000. This varies depending on the type of procedure for your particular nose, the anesthesia used, and other individual factors. Dr. Palladino will need to evaluate your particular case to give you an accurate price.
We encourage you to come in for a consultation to discuss your goals and learn whether men's rhinoplasty is the right fit for you.
Common questions
Men's rhinoplasty, answered
Men who are unhappy with the appearance of their nose and can articulate what they would like to improve are often strong candidates. Common concerns include a nose that appears too large for the face, a wide nose, asymmetry or crookedness, bumps or humps on the bridge, a previously broken or damaged nose, and sinus or breathing problems. Candidacy is determined at your personal consultation with Dr. Palladino.
The difference is access. An open rhinoplasty uses a small incision at the base of the columella, which gives Dr. Palladino full, unobstructed access to the nasal structures; it is typically reserved for complex procedures or for a nose that has been damaged before. A closed rhinoplasty uses incisions entirely inside the nostrils. There is no external scar, and it suits patients who need only minor corrections.
Yes. During rhinoplasty, Dr. Palladino can address structural problems such as a deviated septum that restricts airflow, as well as sinus issues that cause discomfort. Correcting these concerns at the same time as an aesthetic rhinoplasty is common and can meaningfully improve quality of life alongside the visual outcome.
Yes. Dr. Palladino often combines men's rhinoplasty with other procedures, such as a facelift or chin augmentation, to bring the full face into better balance. At your consultation he will advise whether a combined approach suits your facial structure.
Your nose will be swollen for anywhere between 2 to 12 weeks following rhinoplasty, depending on the extent of the procedure. You will wear a small nasal cast in the early days to protect the nose. Bruising, swelling, and soreness are normal. Most patients feel comfortable returning to public activities after a couple of weeks, though recovery varies significantly between individuals. Follow all instructions from Dr. Palladino and his staff to recover as quickly and comfortably as possible.

This varies depending on the type of procedure for your particular nose, the anesthesia used, and other individual factors. Dr. Palladino will need to evaluate your case to provide an accurate estimate. We encourage you to come in for a consultation to get a personalised picture of what's involved.
Results become more visible as swelling subsides over the weeks following surgery. Most significant swelling resolves within the first several weeks, though minor internal swelling can keep resolving over several months. Individual results and healing timelines vary. Dr. Palladino will give you a realistic timeline for your specific procedure at your consultation.
